Gridiron Club Celebrates 1978 & 1988 State Championships...“A Legacy of Excellence”
On Friday, September 12th, Goshen High School and the Gridiron Club hosted events honoring Goshen’s two state football championship teams. The GHS Athletic Department hosted a cookout for team members prior to the GHS – Northwood game.
The teams were then escorted to the field and served as part of the tunnel as the 2008 team took the field. The state championship captains in attendance (Walt Drapeza & Steve Swihart–1978 & Mike Moon-1988) were a part of the ceremonial pre-game coin toss. All the players, coaches, cheerleaders, and support staff were introduced at halftime.
Following the contest, the Gridiron Club hosted a reception at the Bread & Chocolate Conference Center. Players were presented with DVD highlights and former Coaches and players remembered "the day."
